Jindal Mining Namibia (Pty) Limited operates under Jindal Africa, plans to operate an iron ore mine in the region of Khomas, 70km east of Windhoek city. Jindal Mauritius has 85% shareholding in Brake Trading (Pty) Limited which has 2 prospective magnetite Iron Ore Concessions.
The exploration has been completed in two Exclusive Prospecting Licenses (EPL) 4194 and 4013. We have concluded geological resources of 600 million tons with 30,800 meters of core drilling, recently we have completed CPR in SAMREC code compliance for two prospective farms and we are on the way to obtaining mining license. The company is aiming to develop a large-scale iron ore mine in the country.
We have engaged and under process to engage consultants for different specialist studies like Geotechnical, Environmental Social Impact Assessment and Management Study, Pre-Feasibility study for obtaining mining license. We extend to engage local partners in Namibia for specialist studies so as to contribute to national development and to ensure that all statutory mining sector requirements have been adhered.
The specialist studies and subsequent mining license aiming to obtain by 2024 and planning to commission mining activities in 2025. These mining activities will boost local employment, economically benefit the region as well as the nation. Jindal Africa plans to establish an iron ore processing plant where upgradation of iron ore happen locally.
